On June 6th, 1944, the Normandy coast was the scene of maritime landing of Allied troops, who came to fight Nazism and restore peace in Europe. 
 
The famous beaches of Omaha Beach, Gold Beach, Juno Beach, Utah Beach and Sword Beach are lined with memorials.
 
Arromanches-les-Bains retains vestiges of its artificial harbor, a technical feat achieved in 8 days. 
 
Military cemeteries honor the thousands of dead soldiers for peace: visit the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer and the German cemetery at La Cambe. 
 
The Caen Memorial, the Arromanches and Omaha Beach museums, even Bayeux recount the dramatic events of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy.
